How do I submit my application? What is the closing date for applications?
Our advice is to apply early. Our schemes close as we find the right candidate. For vacancies that occur throughout the year, there will be a closing date on the advert.
Can I apply if I am a non-UK national?
Due to the type of work that we do at QinetiQ, many of our jobs require high level Security Clearance with its associated requirements of five years residency in the UK.
Can you help me obtain a work permit?
There are strict conditions and processes to follow if you require a work permit to work in the UK. More information can be found via the following link: http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/workingintheuk/.
If my application is unsuccessful can I re-apply?
We ask that you apply for only one of our graduate opportunities. If you are not successful at this stage, then unfortunately you cannot apply again in the same year. However, you can submit an application for the following year’s campaign.
How long does the application process take?
Once we have received your application, it will be reviewed against our set criteria and we will aim to be in contact with you at the earliest opportunity. If your application is successful at this stage, we’ll invite you to complete a video or telephone interview and following this you may be invited to attend a Discovery Day. If you pass the Discovery Day, you can expect an initial offer from us.
What if I can’t make the Discovery Day date?
We will try to offer you alternative dates but this isn’t always possible.
Will you reimburse my expenses if I attend a Discovery Day?
Yes, we will offer to pay reasonable travelling expenses. This can include a stay in a hotel the night before if you have to travel a long way.
Can I delay my start with you as I’m thinking of taking a year out?
This might be possible but it depends on our business requirements and your reasons for deferral.
What happens when I get an offer?
After we have received your signed offer and reference information our Early Careers Team will work on obtaining your references and security clearance, which can take some time after the initial offer is made.
Will I receive feedback on my application?
Feedback can be given if you are successful at the Discovery Day.
What is the dress code?
For the Discovery Days we suggest that you dress in standard business wear.
Do you offer industrial placements?
Yes, these are advertised on our career site at QinetiQ.com/iq2015 or our placement candidates join via our Year in Industry scheme. Please see here for further details: http://www.yini.org.uk.
What training and development do you offer on the graduate programme?
We will provide a support structure to help plan your QinetiQ journey, based on your personal strengths and aspirations, plus the range of projects we’re working on. Your line manager will aim to have these initial discussions with you within your first few months.
