Introduction to ACE
The Accelerated Capability Environment (ACE) is a Home Office capability within the Homeland Security Group that solves rapidly-changing digital challenges facing law enforcement, national security agencies and wider government.
ACE is powered by Vivace, a community of over 350 members of multi-disciplinary organisations and experts drawn from industry and academia who collaborate to deliver highly innovative solutions at pace. The community ranges from large multi-nationals to individual subject matter experts, with over 75% of the contracts being delivered by small and medium-sized companies.
As ACE has grown, it has been able to apply its approach of mission-led innovation and co-creation more widely, addressing public safety and security challenges.
QinetiQ’s role
QinetiQ won the ACE Private Sector Partner contract in 2017 and setup a dedicated delivery unit called Vivace.
Vivace has created environments, both physical and virtual enabling collaborative innovation, that make it easy to develop solutions and work with data securely. Using an Agile approach and mind-set we deliver mission impact at pace – within weeks and months, rather than the typical months and years of large delivery programmes.
Vivace makes it simpler for small and medium-sized companies to work with government customers. And it makes those customers more responsive by providing access to agile, cutting-edge skills and capabilities that had previously been out of reach.
Mission Impact
Vivace has successfully delivered solutions in fields including:
- Online child sexual abuse and exploitation
- Violence against women and girls
- Counter-terrorism
- Combatting cyber-crime and critical national infrastructure threats
