Friday 23 June is International Women in Engineering (INWED) day, an annual event to celebrate the amazing work that women engineers around the world are doing to support lives and livelihoods every day. This year the focus is on profiling the best, brightest and bravest women in engineering, those women who #makesafetyseen and are helping to build towards a brighter future.
On Wednesday 21 June 2023, we hosted an event at our Training Innovations Facility (TIF) in Farnborough, where 70 girls from local primary (age 10-11) and secondary schools (age 11-13) got to spend the day learning about careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) through interactive and experimental activities.
The day also included a safety awareness session which encouraged our visitors to think about what makes them feel safe, in line with this years' safety theme.
Overall, the day was a really brilliant event which aimed to enthuse the next generation of scientists and engineers by demonstrating the breadth and depth of careers that are open to girls through STEM subjects.
