These services are available to all Defence agencies and enable us to design, certify, manufacture, install, commission, operate, maintain and dispose of complex and bespoke components and systems in support of test, trials or projects. Today, Integrated Engineering Services also operates the Mine Warfare Maintenance Facility at HMAS Waterhen on behalf of the Commonwealth's Explosive Material Branch (EMB).
Mechanical design
Our professional engineering and mechanical design staff establish the feasibility of concepts through detailed design and prototyping, before proceeding to manufacture. From simple components through to complex mechanical systems, our tailorable services may include detailed investigation reports, analysis results and manufacturing drawings. Additionally, all of our mechanical designs are produced to exacting Australian, New Zealand and/or international and quality assurance standards as required by the client. Dealing with complex and novel challenges is our strength, particularly through initial requirements definition and validation activities.
Electronic Design
Our people are experts in all types of electrical and electronic system design (from millivolts to megavolts)and embedded or platform level software. Electronic designs may be bespoke and unique or modifications to existing legacy equipment. We are able to take any level of client design concept and complete it. Tasking frequently involves complex integration of mechanical and electrical/electronic systems, including elements such as data acquisition and logging, signal processing and conditioning, control systems, power design, automated systems or bespoke software.
Mechanical Manufacturing
We fabricate components, subassemblies and assemblies at any level of design – from sketches through to highly-detailed manufacturing drawings – for prototyping or low volume production. In addition to modern five axis Numerical Controlled (NC) mills and lathes we have a welding bay, sheet metal shop, woodworking facilities, model making area, as well as a large state-of-the-art paint booth. Technical staff install, commission, operate and maintain equipment to provide a complete service for clients.
Electronic Manufacturing
We are experienced in manufacturing, repairing and troubleshooting new and legacy electronic equipment, including physical enclosures, wiring looms and Printed Circuit Board subassemblies and assemblies. We manufacture interface systems to match the inputs and outputs of, or modify, existing equipment. Our strength is our knowledge and experience operating and repairing old and unsupportable legacy equipment, through to installation and integration of advanced or bespoke systems.
Applied Imaging
QinetiQ provides professional recording, documentation and presentation of research activities using high speed, macro/micro or infrared photography, flow visualisation (air/water), interferometry and 3D video. In collaboration with DST Group scientists our 3D motion analysis and stereoscopic techniques have turned imaging into a true instrumentation medium, now available to all ADF groups. Services can be provided in our own imaging facilities, or deployed on trials with Commonwealth personnel.
Maintenance Services
Operating under a commercial Maintenance Management Plan (MMP) QinetiQ staff are authorised to conduct routine and on-condition maintenance of Commonwealth mine warfare assets. Rigorous maintenance services are backed up by our comprehensive mechanical, electronics and weapons engineering capabilities. QinetiQ maintenance staff also provide support to Commonwealth training and trials activities, including deployed trials at all Australian ranges.
