As military capabilities become increasingly digital and the battlespace evolves, systems need to be programmed to operate most effectively in specific operational environments.
The information, intelligence and context needed to prepare these systems for a specific mission is known as Mission Data.
Mission Data includes threat signatures, radar and communications frequencies, environmental parameters, navigation information, and other factors that help systems and operators make informed, real time decisions.
With nations increasingly working together against a common adversary, there’s a requirement to be able to share Mission Data across borders and systems.
This requires an effective and efficient Mission Data centre through which information is verified at pace to ensure it is secure and timely enough to keep pace with emerging threats.
With decades of operational experience delivering Mission Data for the UK, QinetiQ is uniquely positioned to be at the forefront of supporting countries as they grow their sovereign Mission Data capability.
We’re the industry lead for Project SOCIETAS which works in partnership with the UK’s Joint Electronic Warfare Operational Support Centre (JEWOSC) to oversee the delivery of Electromagnetic Warfare Intelligence and Mission Data to UK frontline forces and allies.
As part of SOCIETAS, QinetiQ leads a highly-skilled industry team, which includes SMEs and academia, that works alongside the military to provide expertise and training in how to optimise the usability of data.
QinetiQ is also a key part of the Typhoon Mission Support Centre; our embedded team of experts works with the RAF to develop mission data for the Typhoon fleet.
