With an uncertain geo-political environment and rapidly developing threats emerging across the globe, a distinguished group of leading government and industry experts will set the scene and discuss the need to accelerate delivery of cutting edge maritime operational capabilities.

The panel features Mr Will Blamey, Managing Director Maritime and Land, QinetiQ, Rear Admiral James Parkin, Director Develop, Royal Navy, Claire Mason, Adviser Strategic Engagement, Australian Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group and James Morgan, Head of Joint Maritime Security Centre, Home Office

The panel will be moderated by Nick Childs, Senior Fellow for Naval Forces and Maritime Security, at The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).

The panel will be discussing topics such as the need to deliver technology at pace across government, and both the opportunities and challenges of improving collaboration between industry and government as well as international partners.  It will also consider the MOD’s transition from a platform focus to a system of systems approach, the requirements for new approaches to integration in addition to the development of new technology architectures.

QinetiQ’s Managing Director for Maritime and Land, Will Blamey will also discuss the impact of technology on delivering new capabilities, the required levels of assurance and explore concepts to exploit the increasing amount of research and technology conducted in industry and academia.
