Strengthening Australia’s defence capability: Team TECSA expands with new industry partners

19/02/2025

Mawson Lakes, Australia – Wednesday, 19 February 2025 – Team TECSA, an Australian industry and academia collaboration aimed at advancing Australia’s Sovereign Defence Industrial Priority for Test & Evaluation, Certification and Systems Assurance (TECSA) has expanded with the addition of three new Australian defence organisations - BosTECK, DEWC Services and Mercury Information Security Services.

These new members bring critical expertise in explosive ordnance and safety assurance (BosTECK), electronic warfare and intelligence (DEWC Services), and cybersecurity and information assurance (Mercury Information Security Services), reinforcing Team TECSA’s ability to deliver TECSA services to Defence throughout the various domains of warfare.

Team TECSA supports Defence’s move towards a whole of nation enterprise Test and Evaluation (T&E) approach. Launched and led by QinetiQ in September 2024, Team TECSA has since grown to include 19 members across industry and academia.

“We recognise there is capability in the broader ecosystem in Australia that we need to harness to meet our country’s defence requirements and that’s what Team TECSA is delivering. It’s streamlined, scaleable and customer-focused utilising local expertise to advance Australia’s defence capabilities,” said Gary Stewart, QinetiQ Chief Executive Australia Sector.

“As the complexity of T&E continues to increase, it is critical that Defence, industry, and academia work together to deliver integrated solutions that provide joint force assurance and interoperability. Team TECSA brings together the best minds across the sector to reduce fragmentation and ensure a unified, mission-ready approach to T&E.”

“BosTECK, DEWC Services, and Mercury Information Security Services each bring distinct expertise that enhances our ability to support the Australian Defence Force (ADF).Their contributions strengthen our collective capability. This is precisely the kind of collaboration needed to support the ADF’s future operational effectiveness.”

The three new Australian defence organisations joining Team TECSA have all welcomed the opportunity to help further Australia’s defence capabilities.

Responding to the announcement that DEWC Services Pty Ltd had been successful in their application to join Team TESCA, DEWC Services CEO, Allan Dundas said, “DEWC Services is very proud to be accepted into the QinetiQ led Team TESCA and join the 18 companies and academic institutions that are members of the team.”

As a leading provider of C4ISREW specialist services, DEWC Services says its company expertise is well positioned to support Team TESCA as a sovereign T&E enterprise partner. “DEWC Services is a collaborative company, which has a best outcome for Defence focus, and this approach strongly aligns with the Team TESCA ethos,” Allan said.

Edward Farrell, Chief Executive Officer, Mercury Information Security Services said, “Mercury has remained committed to understanding threat actors and employing our knowledge in providing assurance for mission systems and networks. Collaborating with over a decade of knowledge in our domain with other experts presents a unique opportunity for our team.”

Grant White, Managing Director BosTECK said, "BosTECK is proud to join Team TECSA, offering a flexible and coordinated approach to T&E for Defence. Our team brings expertise in system performance analysis, reliability testing, and operational analysis across ICT, simulation, communications, ISR systems, data transformation, and traditional Defence platforms. We are committed to integrating innovative ideas, processes, and tools alongside Team TECSA to continuously improve our services, ensuring the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance for Defence."
