With global threats rapidly increasing, through-life T&E of weapons, from small arms to complex weapon systems and their integration onto air, land and maritime platforms, is essential to deliver capability to the frontline, ensuring their safety and suitability for use.
The world-class T&E capabilities, including facilities and ranges, owned or operated by QinetiQ such as the MOD Hebrides, MOD Shoeburyness and QinetiQ Fort Halstead along with our technical expertise enable us to ensure:
- Operational safety of weapons
- Effective integration on to air, land and maritime platforms
- Provision of evidence that they will perform as required against the target.
With over 80 years’ experience we evaluate weapons through modelling, sub-system testing, sectioning and breakdown, as well as live firings. We continually adapt and innovate to improve ways to collect evidence to support faster decision-making throughout the life of a weapon.
By using modern tools and techniques we can gather greater data insights faster and further improve the design and validation for future use. Utilising this data we can continually improve our modelling and simulation capability to analyse how a weapon will behave in different scenarios and environments.
As the threat environment is susceptible to constant change, QinetiQ remains at the forefront of T&E techniques for weapons, to continue to deliver enhanced benefits to our customers and the warfighter.
Test and evaluation for weapons assurance
Through-life Test & Evaluation (T&E) of military weapons using world-class T&E capabilities including facilities and ranges ensures safe delivery and deployment enabling the customer to achieve operational advantage.
